A million steps just to get this thing set up and it won’t even upload a picture from my computer. Just says “undefined” at the top when I try and no photo ever shows up.

Are you trying to upload a headline image on your profile page? headline image for a list? Or upload an image for an item in a list?

Are you having trouble uploading just this image or any image? Can you check the file to see if there are spaces or special characters in the filename? Anything out of the ordinary that you notice would help us figure out what’s going on.
